Leatherman Sidekick vs Rebar – The Comparison

Outside-accessible feature vs All Locking Feature

Leatherman Sidekick comes with outside-accessible feature which is a better feature when comparing it with the feature of the Leatherman Rebar’s All locking feature. Although the feature Rebar has is good, having a Lanyard ring is enough for the tools safety and a person who is used to using tools will not gain much benefit of it more than he will from Sidekick’s outside-accessible feature.

One-Hand Operable

The Leatherman Sidekick comes with a one-hand operable tool kit which the Leatherman Rebar does not has. Rebar comes with a lot of tools which might be bigger in size than the tools of the Leatherman Sidekick because of which Leatherman Rebar is not one-handed operable.

Number of Tools

Although the Leatherman Sidekick has good features, Leatherman Rebar comes with more tools and flexibility when it comes to multitools. This is because there can be tools that might be needed at a time which the Sidekick lacks. For example, the Sidekick comes with medium and small screwdrivers while the Rebar comes with small and Large screwdriver. The Sidekick lacks the scissor tool which is considered to be quite basic when it comes to multitools. In this regard, the Leatherman Rebar is better than Sidekick.

Conclusion

Although it is difficult to say which tool is better than the other, it all depends what your need and work is. If you are more comfortable with the things Leatherman Sidekick provides then you are more suited for it.

In our opinion, Leatherman Sidekick wins overall as compared to the Leatherman Rebar. We understand that tools Leatherman Sidekick provides are less than Leatherman Rebar, but it provides more features that a person who is not used to be more comfortable with. It does not mean that people who uses multitool more often should go for Leatherman Rebar and not for Leatherman Sidekick, it is also good for them.

Again, it is our personal opinion here and it all depends on your style and how you want to use the tool. Some prefer multitools that comes with more tools, but will compromise with the multitool’s lack of features while some will prefer features while compromising on the number of tools it is providing.
